Three ganja suppliers from Tripura nabbed in Meghalaya

Meghalaya Police arrested Laxmindar Gour for the transportation of 84 kgs of ganja in his vehicle Honda City AS-06-V-8941 at around 03:35 Pm on Wednesday in East Jaintia Hills District.

Police said the staff of Umkiang PP during naka checking at Damcherra, Kuliang, NH-6 detected suspected contraband (Marijuana) wrapped in brown tape found concealed inside the Honda City vehicle.

All formalities under NDPS Act has been observed in the presence of independent witnesses.

The total weight of the recovered suspected Marijuana was found to be 84 Kgs.

Police said Laxmindar Gour hailed from Narendrapur. PO/PS-Sidhai West Tripura. Police seized one Mobile Phone and the Honda city vehicle

A case vide Lumshnong PS Case No. 12 (3) 2023 u/s 20(b)(ii) (c)/29 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation is in progress.

In yet another seizure at around 06:45 Pm on Wednesday, the staff of Umkiang PPP during naka checking at Damcherra, Kuliang, NH-6 detected one Mahindra KUV 100 B/R No. AS 12 P 2301 for transportation of suspected contraband wrapped in brown tape concealed inside the vehicle.

After observing all formalities as per procedures of NDPS Act, the suspected contraband (Marijuana) has been seized and the total weight was found to be 77 Kgs.

Md. Hachan Mia (37 yrs), from Latugoan village, PS-Dharmanagar,PO-Kalacherra, North Tripura District and Mid Ajir Hosen (35 yrs) from Palgoan village, PO/PS-Panisagar, North Tripura District were arrested.

Two Mobile Phones and the vehicle Mahindra KUV were seized.

Police registered a case vide Lumshnong PS Case No. 13(3)2023 u/s 20(b)(ii) (c)/29 NDPS Act and investigation is underway.
