As many as 86 persons have been identified as high risk and low risk contacts of a health worker, who had tested positive for COVID-19 and found to have violated the quarantine rules.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War told reporters that the 86 contacts of the health worker were from Rangthong village in South West Khasi Hills and Shillong.

“Antigen test is being conducted on all the contacts,” he said.

It may be mentioned here that a pharmacist at the Shillong Civil Hospital was tested positive COVID-19 on Thursday. Earlier while waiting for his test report, he was found to have broken his quarantine to drop his wife at Rangthong village. This had also led to the temporary closing down of the Rangthong PHC.

According to Dr War, action will be taken against the pharmacist soon after he recovers from the infection.
