White Cross to perform in Shillong on April 14
SHILLONG: ‘White Cross’ – an international gospel metal band from USA is all set to perform at Polo grounds during their maiden visit to the state later this month.
Best known for their powerful musics, the award winning band will perform at the music concert organised by the Global Mission Factor Association (GMFA) on April 14.
The band from Illinois was formed in 1985 by singer Scott Wenzel and guitarist Rex Carroll, and re-formed in 2000.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, president of the association Rimando Judah Conville said, “White Cross, which is a Christian metal band, will be the main band performing at the concert.”
He said the band has won three Dove Awards in the 1990s and its latest album is Nineteen Eighty Seven was released in 2005.
Asked, Conville said the objective of the concert is to send a positive message to the youths to shy away from negative things like drugs, alcohol and other harmful substances which is affecting the society at present.
According to him, entry for the concert is free. Apart from this, the concert will also feature a host band, ‘The Shillong Gospelers’.
