    To put in place preventive measures and take more stringent steps to ensure social distancing and home quarantine so that the Pandemic COVID-19 does not spread to West Jaintia Hills District and Meghalaya, the District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills has under section 144CrPC promulgated curfew in the whole of the District from 6 AM of 31st March, 2020 to 6 AM of 3rd April, 2020. 

    This Order is however not applicable to  Security force, medical teams on duty, Wholesale & Retail Pharmacies, Police and Armed forces, Fire &Emergency Services,  MeECL and Power Grid, Food & Civil Supplies Department, FCI,  Public Works Department (PWD), Public health Engineering (PHE), Meghalaya Directorate of Dairy Development, Jowai Municipal Board.  Telecom, Telegraph, Communications & IT Services, Print & Electronic Media,  Bank & Treasuries, Movement of fodder and animal products with PASSES to be issued by the District AH & Vety. Officer, Petrol Pumps, Essential Services including Health Services, LPG Deliveries, online food delivery, online services delivery, courier services. 

    Vehicles carrying essential commodities, security forces, medical equipment & good vehicles with valid passes are also exempted. However, Drivers and attendants of the vehicles shall be subjected to medical screening as per laid down protocols.

    This order will not affect opening of Fair Price Shops and identified local retailers which was scheduled to be open on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9 AM to 12 Noon and identified Wholesalers on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday respectively.
