    The District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai, has declared a “Dry Day” on 2nd October 2024 in observance of Gandhi Jayanti, and on 11th and 12th October 2024 for Navaratri and Dussehra.

    All IMFL wholesale vends, IMFL (OFF/ON) outlets, canteens, and outstill establishments will remain closed across the district on these dates.

    Similarly, the Deputy Commissioner (Excise) of South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat, has declared 2nd October 2024 as a “Dry Day” across the district in honour of Gandhi Jayanti. All liquor shops, IMFL outlets, bars, hotels, C.A. bars, C.S. shops, and outstill stalls will remain closed on this day. Violations of the order will be dealt with according to Excise Rules and Acts.

    In East Jaintia Hills District, the Deputy Commissioner (Excise), Khliehriat, has also declared 2nd October 2024 as a “Dry Day” throughout the district for Gandhi Jayanti. All wholesalers, IMFL retailers, bars, canteens, and outstills will remain closed. Any violation will be treated seriously, as stated in the order.
