VPP to sit and take a call on alliance partner: Basaiawmoit
Opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) is yet to decide on whether to support the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) or INDIA Bloc.
“As leaders of the party, we will sit and take a call on that matter,” VPP president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit told reporters on Tuesday after his party’s victory from Shillong parliamentary constituency.
Stating that the VPP will raise the issue of corruption at the national level, he said, “We are going to question the government of India, why no ED (Enforcement Directorate), CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) in the case of Meghalaya when there are many alleged corruption cases are there in the state.”
Apart from corruption, he said the party’s fight is against poverty and against partiality.
Further, Basaiawmoit assured that the VPP will aggressively pursue with the Government of India all issues raised in its manifesto.
“ILP is one of the issues that is included in the manifesto of the party, article 371 is another issue and many more, so the party will seriously pursue all those issues, which are mentioned in the manifesto with the Government of India,” he said.
