  • Use of manjha in East Khasi Hills will be penalised

    The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District prohibited the use of Chinese manjha/nylon/glass-coated/synthetic thread for kite flying as it poses serious threat to humans and environment.

    The prohibitory order has been issued since several accidents have taken place in the past due to the use of such threads, the manufacturer, sale, storage and use of Chinese manjha/nylon/glass-coated/synthetic is also prohibited for kite flying.

    Violators shall be penalised under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, prevention of cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, Indian Penal Code and other provisions of law.
