The dreaded Garo National Liberation Army is trying to raise its head again in the Western Range of Meghalaya with the help of the leading banned outfit of Assam known as ULFA.

This is evident from the incident that occurred in South Garo Hills District on Wednesday.

According to police, on Wednesday at around 08:30 pm a police team which was conducting counter insurgency operations at Bolbokgre village in South Garo Hills was indiscriminately fired upon by unknown miscreants who were taking shelter in the area.

The police team compromising of South Garo Hills force and SF-10 Personnel immediately retaliated, and after an intense exchange of fire, the police team then conducted combing operation in the area.

While searching the area the team recovered 1 (One) AK 81 Rifle with magazine and ammunitions, 2 (Two) smooth bore rifles, 3 (Three) pistols and other incriminating evidences.

The miscreants who managed to fled away after the exchange of fire are suspected to be aides of Drishti Rajkhowa (Deputy Commander-in-Chief of ULFA), who was also suspected to be present during the incident.
