Vigilant troops from the BSF Meghalaya Frontier intercepted and apprehended two Indian nationals near the international border on October 18 in East Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya. They were found with two vehicles loaded with a large quantity of apples, allegedly intended for smuggling into Bangladesh.

According to BSF PRO, acting on specific intelligence, the troops of the 4th Battalion BSF intercepted an Alto car and a Maruti Van carrying 40 boxes of apples on the Dawki-Lynkhat road in the Pyrdwah border area.

Upon questioning, the drivers failed to justify carriage of the consignment besides failing to produce any valid documents pertaining to the consignment.

The apprehended persons along with the vehicle and consignments were handed over to Customs Pynursla.
