Two dead in Meghalaya: One Bangladeshi intruder, one in Barato village shooting
In the latest crime update from Meghalaya Police, a series of incidents have been reported, ranging from burglary and intrusion to fraud and shootings.
Illegal Entry and Fatality: On May 1 at about 11 am, one Bangladeshi national illegally entered inside Indian Territory and was apprehended and assaulted by the residents of a village under Bholaganj PCP (EKH). However, the intruder managed to escape. Later, Police found that the intruder was lying unconscious at Kurikhal village (EKH) and shifted him to CHC Ichamati (EKH), where the attending MO declared him brought dead. Necessary formalities were observed and the cadaver was shifted to CH Shillong for PM examination.
Burglary: Shri Sandeep Thakuri lodged a complaint that on Apr 30, 2024, unknown miscreant(s) broke into his residential apartment at Lower Jail Road, Shillong and stole one TV set.
Fraudulent Transaction: Two female residents of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that one alleged accused person viz., Don Kharkongor borrowed Rs. 3 lakh from them and mortgaged his local taxi (ML-05U-5170). Later, the complainants learnt that the vehicle’s documents provided by him were fake.
Assault: Shri Raju Deb lodged a complaint that on May 1 evening, one alleged accused person viz., Vikash assaulted him at Nongmensong, Shillong. As a result, he sustained minor injuries and was shifted to CH Shillong.
Theft at Construction Site: Manager, M/s JC Infra Corporation, Ltd lodged a complaint that on May 1 early morning, unknown miscreant(s) stole one drum containing two hundred Kgs of Bitumen from the construction site at Swer village, Mawkdok under Sohra PS (EKH).
Motorcycle Theft: Shri Deepraj Dey lodged a complaint that on Apr 20, 2024 at about 3 am, unknown miscreant(s) stole his motorcycle (ML-05AB-6423) from his residence at Dharambasti village, Bholaganj (EKH).
Assault and Threat Incident: Smt. Anjelina Sari lodged a complaint that on Apr 27 between 3.30 am to 4 am, one alleged accused person viz., Lik Suna, assaulted her brother viz., Shri Rajesh Sari near Rajasthan Dhaba, Jowai By-Pass Road (WJH). However, the incident was captured in CCTV. As a result, the victim sustained grievous injuries and was admitted at Nazareth Hospital, Shillong. The complainant further stated that the accused also threatened the owner of the aforesaid Dhaba not to disclose the incident.
Fatal Shooting: On May 1 around 2 am, unknown miscreant(s) shot dead one Shri Tobias Dkhar (47 yrs), while he was sleeping in his residence at Barato village (WJH). Necessary formalities were observed and the cadaver was shifted to CH Ïalong for PM examination.
Cattle Theft: Shri Chandu A Sangma lodged a complaint that on the night of Apr 30, 2024, unknown miscreant(s) stole four head of cattle valued around Rs. 1.4 lakh from his cowshed at Rengsipara village (WGH).
