Tremor hits Shillong with the epicentre in East Khasi Hills
The people of Shillong who are already freezing due to the cold weather of December accompanied with moderate rainfall got another freezer from mother nature in the form of a mild earthquake with its epicentre in East Khasi Hills District on Friday morning.
According to the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake occurred at 8.46 am with a magnitude of 3.8 in the Richter Scale. The GPS coordinates of the epicentre are Latitude 25.47 degrees North and Longitude 91.75 degrees East with a depth of 14 kilometres in East Khasi Hills District.
No report of any casualty or damages to property have been received so far.
Meanwhile, an earthquake hit the State of Gujarat at 9.00 am with 23.45 Latitude and 70.42 Longitude and epicentre is Kachchh Gujarat.
