  • Three charred to death in Nongrah fire incident

    SHILLONG: Three persons were charred to death after a major fire broke out in an automobile workshop at Lum Marboh, Nongrah in the city here on Saturday.

    The incident took place at around 4 am, when the four young people, who were staying in the workshop, were fast asleep, police said.

    The workshop belongs to one Phinlang Sunn.

    The deceased have been identified as Rijiedstar Kurbah, Pynhunlang Lyngdoh and Wankordor Warjri, they said.

    However, Wikistar Khyriem who received burn injuries on his legs, managed to escape from the place.

    Police suspected that a heater that was left unattended as the cause that may have led to the fire incident.

    The bodies have been taken to the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Medical & Health Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) for post mortem examination.

    Meanwhile, police are still conducting inquiry into the incident that led the tragic lost of three lives.
