Dawki Land Port’s firefighting team from India took swift action on November 9 at the Tamabil Border in Sylhet, Bangladesh, averting a potential disaster. Led by Port Manager TC Chacko, the team quickly responded to a fire emergency, deploying two fire trucks and containing the blaze before it could escalate.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. when a fire broke out in the driver’s cabin of an empty methanol tanker, bearing registration NL01AH9493 from Assam Petrol Chemical, which had entered Bangladesh on November 5.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as the tanker was empty and the driver was not in the cabin.

The Meghalaya International Export Chamber of Commerce (MIECC) and other export groups commended Mr. Chacko and the Dawki team for their quick thinking and efficient response, noting their bravery in safeguarding lives across international lines.
