    In order to create awareness on the importance of conservation of waters, the students from the Department of Environment and Traditional Ecosystems, Martin Luther Christian University in collaboration with the PHE Department, Government of Meghalaya conducted a street play titled “Personification of Umkhrah.”

    The street play were enacted on Saturday and Monday in the busy streets of Police Bazaar and Laitlyngkot Market respectively where the play in Police Bazaar was performed in English while in Khasi dialect for the crowd in Laitlyngkot. The performance was interactive, inclusive of song and dance.

    The initiative was carried out as a part of the World Water Day celebration to bring awareness to the community on the importance of the conservation of water resources.
    Besides to keep the water systems clean and pristine which is in line with this year’s theme “Accelerating change to solve the water & sanitation crisis”.
