    The Meghalaya Election Department has directed all political parties and contesting candidates of all 60 assembly constituencies to compulsorily stop campaigning in any form by 4 pm of Saturday without fail.

    The order has been issued by various District Elections Officers of the State in strict compliance of the Election Commission of India.

    “In view of the closure of campaign period, no campaign can take place within any constituency, political functionaries /party workers / procession-functionaries / campaign functionaries, etc., who have been brought from outside the constituency and who are not voters of the constituency, should not continue to remain present in the constituency,” the order informed.

    The order directed all political parties are directed to ensure that all political functionaries / party workers / procession-functionaries / campaign-functionaries etc. who have been brought from outside any given constituency and who are not voters of that constituency exit from these constituencies by 4:00PM on 25.02.2023.
