Stay away from addiction of PUBG, Social Media & Drugs are message of Behdeiñkhlam
JOWAI: Invoking for good health and harvest, thousands of Niamtre faithful gathered at Aitnar, Jowai here this afternoon and commemorated the final day of the Behdeiñkhlam with all due sanctity and reverence to the Almighty to plead for His blessing and protection from famines and plagues.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Leader of Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma, Chief Justice High Court of Meghalaya Justice A K Mittal, BJP State President Shibun Lyngdoh and others Minister and MLAs and MDCs and senior government officials were present in the occasion.
The Chief Minister and the Leader of Opposition also joined the hundreds of young and old men dancing in the pool of water in Aitnar by the side of the pool.
Addressing the gathering, Sangma informed that the Government is working for the proper documentation of the cultural practices so that it is well preserved for the future.
The final day began with the carrying of the Khnong to the Aitnar by the Khon Raij followed by the invoking of blessing and casting away of plague by the beating of the water by bamboos by the Dolloi and his subordinates.
The celebration continued with the display of the 12 Rot made by the faithful of the ten localities from Jowai and one each from Ummulong and Shillong.
The faithful of Loomkyrwiang through their Rot warned the people of the impending dangerous from pollution and deforestation while the Rot of Ladthadlaboh called for saving the Planet Earth to save human life. The faithful of Iawmusiang appealed to the people for clean and greener Earth and similarly the faithful of Tpepale called for respect of Environment else face extinction.
Going in line with the present World Cup Cricket, the faithful of Chilliangraij depicting the images of world famous cricketers through their Rot.
Expressing concern over the addiction of the people to the popular online game, the faithful of Loomiongkjam urged the people to abstain themselves from over indulgences in PUBG before it is too late.
Another over indulgence of the people is surfing the Social Media and have no time for anything else which was displayed through the Rot made by the faithful of Ummulong Village.
The high rate of drug users in the State was matter of concern and the faithful of Umshangiar came forward with strong message, “Drugs are Death Trap” to the people urging them to stay away from drugs and also to rehabilitate themselves to the drug users.
Hundreds of male faithful rushed to touch the final Khnong when it was brought to the pool of water as it is believed that anyone who touched the Khnong will be blessed.
The celebration came to a close with the football match between the upper side and the lower side and whoever wins the match will get good health and good harvest this year.
Tourists from outside the state and foreign countries were seen thronging Aitnar to have a live view of the Behdeiñkhlam Festival and they were all amazed and they were seen capturing each and every moment of the final celebration either with their digital camera or mobile phone.
