SSA teachers begin non cooperation movement against non-payment of dues
Over 12,547 Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers on Wednesday launched the 24-day non-cooperation movement against the state government for its failure to release their pending salaries.
Addressing media persons, President of the Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) Aristotle C Rymbui said the non cooperation movement has started from today and will continue till January 14.
“Through this, we wish to express our disappointment against the government’s inaction to release our five-month pending salaries,” he added.
He said during the non cooperation movement, no SSA teacher will take part in any government sponsored programmes be it education sector or health sector.
Rymbai also informed that the Association had also organized a letter campaign in this regard.
“As president I had sent a letter to the chief minister for his intervention into the grievances of the teachers due to non release of their pending salaries. Unfortunately, there has been no response till date,” he said.
The MSSASA chief further threatened to intensify the agitation if the state government continues to turn a deaf ear to the plight of the teachers.
He announced that a sit-in- protest cum candle light protest will be held in Shillong on January 21.
