    As part of International Water Conclave 2024, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai conducted District level Quiz and Painting competition today the 3rd February, 2024 in the Conference Hall, DC office, Jowai.

    Six teams that includes Sohkha Government Higher Secondary School, Sohkha, Thomas Jones Synod College, Jowai, Kiang Nangbah College, Jowai and two teams Competition from Bharat Scouts and Guides participated in Quiz Competition. 

    In the Painting competition 28 participants participated. 

    The theme for the painting competition was Water Conservation: Depict the essence of water conservation as sustainable utilization of water resources.

    Life and Water Connection: Explore the vital connection between water and life, emphasising its role in ecosystems, health and overall well-being.

    Future Sustainability: Illustrate a vision for a sustainable and water- secure future through artistic interpretation, with a special focus on caring and sharing for water issues in hilly areas collectively.

    The two team winners in the Quiz competition are Sohkha Government Higher Secondary School, Sohkha represented by Gorge Donkupar Gassah and Nangkhraw Kitbor Khonglah, Thomas Jones Synod College, Jowai represented by Mutbha Lapasam and Quikly Pala.

    B Blah, Additional Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai informed the participants that the competition is not only part of International Water Conclave 2024 but also an awareness of the water related issues. 

    She also informed the participants that the paintings will be forwarded to Shillong for evaluation by a panel of judges. She added that the winners of competition will represent the district at the state level.
