Shylla to write to Assam excise minister on non-issuing of transit pass for transportation of excise materials to Garo Hills
Minister in-charge Excise Kyrmen Shylla on Monday said he would take up with his counterpart in Assam with regards to the non-issuing of transit pass for transportation of materials to Garo Hills region through the neighbouring state.
After chairing a meeting, Shylla said, “I will write a DO (demi official) letter to the Assam Excise Minister for resolving the issue…after August 15.”
“I don’t know for what reason they have stopped issuing transit passes. They have not given us any information on this,” he said.
Asked, the minister said that although there are two routes available to transport materials to Garo Hills region, the transportation cost is quite high through Nongstoin. “But the transportation cost is very less through Assam. Therefore, we want to resolve this issue. We would like to request the Assam government, especially the excise department to kindly support us,” Shylla said.
Asked, the minister said, “Transit pass is just to reach the destination and stopping to reach the destination, that is not a solution and not necessary.”
He said the chief secretary at his level would also take up the matter with his counterpart. If possible the matter may be resolved at the officer level, Shylla added.
