Shocking Discovery: Broken bottles found in Ration Rice in Meghalaya
The Central Government has been providing clean and quality rice to the citizens of India through the State Government, wholesalers, and fair price shops in villages. However, in a shocking incident, broken pieces of bottles were found in one of the rice bags supplied to a fair price shop in Meghalaya.
The incident occurred in Nongtalang Mission Village under Amlarem Sub Division, where broken pieces of bottles were recovered by the local Fair Price Shop in Nongtalang Mission.
Waheh Shnong (headman) of Nongtalang Mission, Twinson Rymbui, informed that the rice was meant to be distributed to the households of the village. The rice bags were delivered from the wholesaler on August 10th and distributed to the public on August 14th.
The Waheh Shnong immediately informed the Amlarem Sub Division Supply Office. They also met with the Inspector and Sub Inspector of Supply at Amlarem Sub Division to report their findings.
Twinson Rymbui stated that the office promptly contacted the wholesaler, who agreed to replace the rice containing plastic bottles, rat poop, and other garbage.
In response to this incident, the members of the Vigilance Committee of Nongtalang Mission Village have urged government authorities and higher authorities, such as the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in charge of ration distribution, to take stringent action to prevent such occurrences in the future. They emphasized that this practice poses a life-threatening risk to the consumers of the ration rice.
