Shillong journos boycott reporting on KHADC’s budget speech

SHILLONG: Journalists in Shillong on Monday decided to boycott reporting on the budget of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) after the Council failed to provide copy of the budget.

The budget for the year 2019-20 was tabled by the deputy chief executive member Pyniaid Sing Syiem during the first day of the budget session held here.

As it was done, journalists would have to collect the copy of the budget from the officials of the Council soon after the budget was being presented in the House.

However to their surprise, the Council officials outrightly refused to provide the copy of the budget despite making them understand that it was important for the journalists.
