Shillong based firm kicks off Northeast Digital Acceleration Programme

JOWAI: The Northeast Digital Accelerator Programme, is an initiative of Marketing Wire, a digital marketing agency based in Shillong, aimed at recognising early-stage entrepreneurs from the Northeast of India. The programme looks at creating a supportive digital ecosystem to help young entrepreneurs scale up their businesses.

Through this programme, the firm will pick up early stage startups and rural entrepreneurs every three months and offer specialist advice, support and digital solutions. Post selection (which is a voluntary opt in) the team at Marketing Wire will work to develop their business plans and maximize the use of internet-based services and platforms to create new revenue streams, access new markets and attract stakeholders.

Though the digital acceleration, which is perhaps the first programme with its roots from Meghalaya, Marketing Wire is envisioning to shake-up the early stage online entrepreneurial activity from the region.

Why this programme?

The Digital Accelerator Programme will work as a platform committed to helping rural & sub-urban entrepreneurs maximize the use of internet-based technology to launch or expand businesses and create employment opportunities in the Northeast. Moreover, the acceleration programme is initiated because:

There are more ‘traditional’ businesses especially in the rural areas that needs to explore the usage of technology to reach new customers and increase revenue.

There are businesses with some early success but are struggling to scale the business to the next level.

There are unnoticed innovative ideas for businesses but are struggling to gain enough customer interest.

This initiative is a result of intensive research and understanding of the local business eco-system in the Northeast. The idea is to encourage the use of branding and web-based marketing and sales technique. With this in mind, the agency decided the best way to solve this problem is to start a Northeast focused digital acceleration programme at no cost.
