    The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Jaintia Hills District in collaboration with the Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District today organized a sensitization programme for IC’s and IO’s of the Police Department, East Jaintia Hills District at the Conference Halls of the Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District. The programme was chaired by DS Marbaniang, CJM cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Jaintia Hills District.

    During the programme, the Police Officers comprising of ICs and IOs were sensitized on various topics including Investigation process, Road safety rules as per the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, Importance of setting up Legal Clinics and Support Centers in the District and setting up the Legal Aid Counsel (LAC) Para Legal Volunteers (PLV) in Police Stations, Police Outpost and Police Patrol Post to create awareness and assist the public in matters relating to their rights especially during arrest and other legal issues.

    The above mentioned topics were presented by the District and Session Judge, East Jaintia Hill District G Ranee, Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, IPS , R Jana Nongbet, Public Prosecutor, Inspector HR Diengdoh, CI (S), Khliehriat and S Pdang, Legal Aid Counsel.
