Section 163 BNSS imposed for smooth vote counting

The District Magistrate of East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, and the District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills District have prohibited victory rallies or processions by winning candidates within 200 metres of the counting centres for up to 48 hours after the declaration of results under Section 163 of the BNSS.
The order was issued separately to ensure the smooth conduct of the counting of votes for the JHADC elections in 10 constituencies under East Jaintia Hills District and 16 constituencies under West Jaintia Hills District. The counting will be held at the DC’s office in Khliehriat and the DC’s office in Jowai on the 24th of this month.
The order also prohibits the entry of unauthorized persons into the Counting Halls and within a 200-metre radius of the Counting Centres on the day of counting. Additionally, the entry of vehicles within this radius is not allowed.
As per the order, the use of loudspeakers within 200 metres of the Counting Centres and the haphazard parking of vehicles along National Highway 6, State Highways, and District Roads are prohibited.
Furthermore, carrying any type of harmful weapons or substances, as well as any act of mischief intended to create an unwanted situation for ulterior motives, is strictly prohibited.
The assembly of more than five people within 200 metres of the Counting Centres after the completion of the counting process is also prohibited.
