GHADC MDC from Rongrong constituency Rinaldo K Sangma on Tuesday sought the intervention of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma into the alleged reduction of posts for the Garo category while implementing the roster system.

In his letter to the CM, Rinaldo said, “On behalf of my Garo brethren, I request you to kindly intervene and make needed corrections in the interest of all.”

He said it has come to his appraisal that the recent corrigendum notices which has been notified by the Meghalaya Public Service Commission indicate that the roster reservation system to recruitment to certain posts as directed by the Meghalaya High Court is clearly not being implemented.

He said it is appalling to see that most posts which were allotted for the Garo category rectified via a corrigendum in 14th September 2022 last after the judgement order of the High Court’s direction has been altered and the no. of posts for the Garo Category has been reduced.

The corrigendum rectified the recruitment to the post of LD Assistant in the Meghalaya Secretariat for Garo Category to 43 posts but the recent re-noticed corrigendum advertised on 28th July 2023 otherwise states that no of posts meant for Garo Category has been reduced from 43 posts to 39 posts.

“On what grounds have the advertisements been changed? Whether a new Roster Reservation office memorandum prescribing for prospective implementation has been notified?” the MDC asked.

He further alleged that this is a sheer deprivation to our entitlements and utter disregard to the directions of the  High Court.
