    In compliance to the instruction of the Elections Commission of India, the Meghalaya Election Department through the various District Election Offices (DEO) to remove all campaigning materials by 4pm of Saturday and failure to do so will be dealt with as per the as provision of Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act 1951.

    According to order issued by various DEOs, all political parties and the contesting candidates for the General Election to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, 2023 that the silent period of 48 hours before the close of the poll, wherein all electioneering/ campaigning/ propagating regarding election issues is prohibited, commences from 4:00 PM of Saturday.

    All political parties and candidates are directed to mandatorily takedown/ remove/ eradicate all such forms of propagation of election matters such hoardings/ banners/ posters/ advertisements etc. that they have erected/ installed in all polling areas of Meghalaya by 4:00 PM of Saturday.
