Rakkam slams Congress leader for condemning CM’s stand on Paris Olympic fiasco
NPP leader and cabinet minister Rakkam A Sangma on Friday hit out at the Congress leader and former South Tura legislator John Leslee K Sangma for condemning the chief minister Conrad K Sangma for his stand against the drag act depicting the Last Supper during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024 by alleging him of trying to hoodwink the people of Meghalaya to boost the sagging image of the party.
In a statement, Rakkam also asked John Leslee to apologize to the entire Christian community for showing support to the Olympic fiasco.
“I expect John Leslee to be a mature leader of Congress and should not pollute the Christian faith by dragging political mileage from such issues. Conrad Sangma’s stand against Olympic fiasco should not pain John Leslee instead it should have been inspired by this. He deserved to be condemned by all Christian faith and he must apologize for his act of showing support to Paris Olympic fiasco,” he said while adding “John Leslee act will really perturbed the Christian community across the globe and showed the divisive testimony of the Christian community. The act of the Paris Olympic is a satanic act and should not be appreciated at any cost, by anybody including him. He should not glorify the satanic act by such testimony and it shows less rooted with Christian faith and coming out openly against Conrad’s stand with Christian faith is really unacceptable and a shameless act.”
Asking the Congress leader to refrain from playing politics, Rakkam said, “The stand of the chief minister has testified of him being a Christian chief minister and his stand against such disrespect to Christian faith in Paris Olympic 2024 is to be appreciated by all of us across the world.”
