    The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District in a press release issued here informs the general public that in compliance to with the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and in pursuance to the Government Order permitting movement of 25% public transport to operate within the District with effect from 4th May, 2020 on rotation basis with 50 % seating capacity. The public transport in East Jaintia Hills will be allowed and regulated to operate as per the arrangement, terms and conditions.

    For Public Transport, vehicles with Registration Number ending with 0, 2 and 4 will be allowed to ply in every Monday and Thursday. Vehicles with Registration Number ending with 1,3 and 5 will be allowed to ply on every Tuesday and Friday whereas, for every Wednesday and Saturday only vehicles with Registration Number Ending with 6, 7, 8 and 9 will be allowed to ply.

    The Deputy Commissioner has also instructed all drivers and passengers to adhere strictly to protocols and advisories issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department relating to wearing of masks, washing of hands, use of sanitizers and respiratory etiquette, only 50% of the seating capacity will be allowed, public transport and vehicles should be sanitized before use and after usage,

    In addition, the fares of the Taxi’s shall be followed as per the Notification issued by the Transport Department. The local taxi fare is Rs. 26/- per 1st Km and Rs. 13/- per every subsequent Km, Rs. 7/- per minute will be charge for holding and detaining. For 7(seven) plus seaters tourist vehicle (Sumo, Maxx, etc) the fare is Rs. 2.05 per heads per Km and extra charge of Rs. 200/- per 100km for AC vehicles if utilized whereas, the fare for 5(Five) seaters tourist vehicle (Alto 800, Swift, etc) is Rs. 18 per Km and extra charge of Rs. 200/- per 100 Km for Ac vehicle if utilized.

    The Deputy Commissioner has also stated that non compliance of this order will attract penalty as per provision of laws
