    A public hearing for the 210 MW Umngot Hydroelectric Project in Meghalaya is slated to be held on April 9.

    According to the public notice of Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) said that the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) has proposed to set up the 210 MW Umngot Hydroelectric Project near Siangkhnai village in East Khasi Hills District.

    The Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills has fixed the date that the public hearing will be held at Moosakhia Village from 11 am to record the views, suggestions, objections, etc. put forward by the concerned local affected persons.

    The Umngot Hydroelectric Project will cover an area of 296.97 hectares spanning both West Jaintia Hills and East Khasi Hills Districts.
