    In view of the implementation of Model Code of Conduct on announcement of Election date in Meghalaya, the East Khasi Hills District Magistrate prohibit any person or group of persons from carrying cash above 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand) only in the East Khasi Hills District under Section 144 CrPC.

    Moreover,the Election Commission directs to check bribery of Voters during the conduct of any election and ensure the voters exercise the franchise freely and fairly without fear or inducement.

    The order was issued as information was received that some persons are likely to carry large amount of hard cash to bribe the voters for casting their votes in favour of a particular candidate,
