    The Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT), Shillong under the Education Department has successfully conducted the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) held on Friday for both Lower Primary and Upper Primary levels.

    The examination was held at 38 venues across all 12 Districts of Meghalaya.

    A total of 14,503 candidates have applied for the MTET Examination for the Lower Primary level and 12,813 candidates applied for the Upper Primary level.

    The conduct of the MTET is a vital step towards ensuring the quality of education in the State, and the high turnout reflects the enthusiasm and commitment of aspiring teachers.

    Qualifying the MTET is one of the essential qualifications as per the norms of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) for appointment of teachers in the Lower and Upper Primary levels in Meghalaya.

    The Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT) said it has successfully conducted the examination in a fair and transparent manner, and the results will be announced in due course. The Education Department has expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the MTET, 2025 and appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders.
