One injured in West Garo Hills due to thunderstorm and heavy rainfall

One person from Rangira Gittim was injured and admitted to the Tura Civil Hospital’s ICU on Saturday as a result of the thunderstorm and heavy rainfall that damaged many homes, power lines, and other utilities in West Garo Hills District.

According to the District Administration of West Garo Hills, the thunderstorm affected 140 houses and nearly 500 people. As per the norms of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), the District Administration are providing the necessary assistance.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), has informed the thunderstorm predictions for the region on Twitter and the District Administration has notified the public in West Garo Hills to take precautions.

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with Severe thunderstorm, strong gusty winds/squall/hail activity very likely over Northeast India during next 3 days along with isolated heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh for 3 days and over Assam & Meghalaya for 2 days.
