Omicron Alert: Night Curfew imposed in West Jaintia Hills
West Jaintia Hills District Magistrate on Tuesday has informed that in pursuance to the order of Home (Political) Department, Government of Meghalaya dated 03.01.2022 has imposed the following restriction from January 6 until further orders.
As per the order, Night Curfew will be promulgated under Section 144 CrPC from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM daily.
The order was issued in view of the increase in Covid cases in the country due to the Omicron variant and to safeguard the State/District from an uncontrollable surge in Covid-19 cases.
All official/public/political gatherings are prohibited. However, weddings are permitted at 50 % of the capacity in an enclosed space and maximum of 100 persons for unenclosed or open space.
Maximum numbers of 50 persons are permitted for funeral.
All persons entering the State/District including those fully vaccinated, have to produce an RTPCR negative report valid 72 hours prior to arrival at the Covid Screening Centre at the entry points. For those being tested at the Covid Screening Centres at the entry point it is mandatory to be isolated till the receipt of the report.
Inter-District movements of Private Vehicles are allowed subject to the Odd-Even rule. Vehicles registration numbers ending in odd numbers (1,3,5,7,9) are allowed to ply on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and those ending in even numbers (0,2,4,6,8) are allowed to ply on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. On Sunday the restriction of Odd-Even rule shall not be applied.

Health services including emergency services and vaccination.
Medicines and Pharmaceuticals.
Movement of essential goods.
Movement for medical emergencies.
Medical Teams and officials on COVID-19 Duty.
Police, Security and Armed Forces.
Civil Defence and Home Guards.
Fire & Emergency Services.
Water Supply, Municipal Services, Electricity, Public Distribution System, Information and Public Relations, Telecommunication services.
Print Electronic Media, NARI/ 1917iTEAMS, Petrol pumps, LPG Distributors.
Essential Veterinary services including feed and fodder movement for livestock for farmers
In addition, the District Magistrate has directed the general public to strictly follow following advisories:
All eligible individuals should take the vaccine as data has proven that it is effective in reducing the severity of COVID-19 infection.
Social Distance is compulsory and individuals must maintain a minimum distance of
6 feet in public places.
Use of face covers/ masks to be mandatory. Wearing of N-95 masks or double masking is encouraged for better protection.
To practice frequent hand washing with soap (for at least 40-60 seconds) even when hands are not visibly dirty. Use of alcohol-based sanitizers (for at least 20 seconds) can be made wherever feasible.
Respiratory etiquettes to be strictly followed. Covering one’s mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing with a tissue/ handkerchief/ flexed elbow and disposing off used tissues properly.
Self-monitoring of health by all and reporting any symptoms at the earliest to State
helpline 14410 or nearest to the nearest Public Health Institution (CHC/PHC).
Spitting in Public places is strictly prohibited.
Avoid travelling and crowding public places.
