Oath administers to newly elected members of KHADC
SHILLONG: The 29 newly elected members of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) took oath of office at a ceremony held here on Wednesday.
The oath to all the members was administered by the East Khasi Hills District Deputy Commissioner Matsiewdor W Nongbri.
While majority of the members took their oath in English, only two MDCs – Pyniaid Sing Syiem from Sohryngkham and Teiborlang Pathaw from Mawlai – however took their oath in Khasi.
Two MLAs which include Lambor Malngiang and Gigur Myrthong who got elected as MDCs of Nongkrem and Mawshynrut respectively, also took oath as newly elected members.
The KHADC this time has only two women MDCs – Grace Mary Kharpuri from Nongshken and Macdalyne Sawkmie Mawlong from Umsning.
The other MDCs include Teinwell Dkhar, Pynshngain N Syiem, Martle N Mukhim, Paul Lyngdoh, Ronnie V Lyngdoh and Titosstarwell Chyne.
Meanwhile, the elections to the posts of chief executive member and chairman will be conducted tomorrow.
UDP leader and Shella MDC Teinwell Dkhar and NPP leader and Mawkhar-Pynthorumkrah MDC PN Syiem are all set to be elected as the new CEM and Chairman of the KHADC following the opposition Congress decision not to contest the elections to both the posts.
