An NSCN(K-YA) cadre was killed in an exchange of fire with the trops of Assam Rifles in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday morning.

“Acting on specific information about the movement of cadres in the area of Changkhao in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh, the troops launched a search operation and came in contact with the cadre of NSCN(K-YA). Troop search patrols were fired upon. Reacting swiftly, the troops retaliated and in the exchange of fire one cadre of NSCN(K-YA) was neutralized,” a defence spokesperson Lt Col Amit Shukla said.

“One pistol and war-like stores were recovered from the area of the incident,” he added.

The identity of the militant is yet to be ascertained.
