Nominate your local hero: Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Award, 2024 now open

In a bid to recognize acts of heroism and compassion, the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, had instituted the “Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Award, 2024.”

This prestigious award aims to recognize meritorious acts of humane nature in saving the life of a person in incidents like drowning, accidents, fire incidents, electrocution, land slides, animal attack and rescue operation in mines, etc. As the name of the award suggests, the award is given to a rescuer for saving someone’s life.

The award, categorized into three categories – Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak, and Jeevan Raksha Padak, signifies the government’s appreciation for those who risk their lives to safeguard others.

Residents of East Khasi Hills District are encouraged to nominate deserving candidates for this accolade. Nominations should be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, no later than June 3, 2024.
