National Book Trust organizes special exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi and India’s freedom struggle
On the occasion of the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan, paid a floral tribute to the “Father of the Nation.” Additionally, he also honored another prominent figure in India’s history, Lal Bahadur Shastri, who served as the country’s second Prime Minister.
During the event, the Governor inaugurated a book exhibition, which was organized by the National Book Trust of India. This exhibition featured a collection of books related to the life and contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and the other unsung heroes in India’s freedom struggle.
In addition to the book exhibition, the Governor also took the opportunity to release a book titled ‘Pathways to Progress: India’s National Education Policy 2020 Unveiled,’ authored by Dr. Sagar Onkarrao Manjare, Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya, and Dr. Sarika Dixit, Registrar of Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya.
This commemorative program drew attendees from various schools in Shillong. It also saw the presence of dedicated officers and staff members of Raj Bhavan, who joined in paying their respects and celebrating the legacy of these iconic leaders.
