Opposition Congress leader and Shillong Lok Sabha MP Vincent H Pala on Tuesday said that the party high command is likely to take a call on MPCC president’s post after the results of the GHADC elections.

“I was in touch with him (AICC incharge Meghalaya) before I came for election (duty in Assam). He said that they will take a decision soon after the results of the GHADCpolls,” Pala told reporters.

Stating that everybody including leaders, legislators and office bearers have their own views on the issue, he however said, “I don’t know as it will all depend on the wisdom of the incharge and wisdom of the high command.”

Not denying that his name was also projected as the next PCC chief, Pala however said, “But I personally think that we still have a very senior leader like Charles Pyngrope. I think he (Pyngrope) should be the next PCC chief.”

According to him, most of the MLAs also want Pyngrope to be appointed as the new PCC chief.

Asked, Pala said, “Actually, I never aspire to be MPCC chief because I think I am too junior compared to many of them.”

“When Lapang was there as president, that time high command and AICC incharge had called me and I told them for MP to come to the state is not that easy as shillong is very far from Delhi and you need a man who is in Shillong and who can see the welfare of the party from day to day,” he added.

Pala concluded by saying that as soldiers of the party, it is not for them to say no to the high command. “Whatever responsibility given to us we have to say  yes no doubt,” he stated.
