Mortal remain of ill-fated mother daughter duo retrieved from Umngot River
After a continuous search operation since Wednesday’s morning, the Search & Rescue Team of the Meghalaya Fire & Emergency Service managed to retrieve the mortal remains of the ill fated mother-daughter duo who drowned in Umngot River, Shnongpdeng on Thursday.

Villagers and Search Rescue Team carrying out rescue operations have recovered the bodies of mother daughter who drowned in Umngot River at Shnongpdeng village today.
Villagers first recover the body of an eight year old minor girl Tariang Lymba in the morning. In the evening they recover the body of the mother Julias Lymba (27 years).
It may be mention that on Wednesday morning mother and daughter drowned after the wooden boat in which they were travelling capsized at Wah Umngot river, Shnongpdeng village.
The mother identified as Julias Lymba (27 years) along with her daughter Tariang Lymba (8 years) lost their life while two others villagers managed to escape after the wooden boat in which they were travelling capsized on Wednesday’s morning.
The Villagers who swung into rescue operation immediately after the incident managed to recover the body of an eight year old minor girl Tariang Lymba in the morning.
During the evening hours of Thursday, the combined efforts of SRT and villagers managed to retrieve the body of the mother Julias Lymba (27 years)
