The annual convocation of Martin Luther Christian University was held at the Lariti International Centre for Performing Arts and Culture on September 20. Crossing four figures for the first time, 1044 scholars received degrees and diplomas, marking a significant milestone in MLCU’s academic journey.  Among the candidates, 20 received PhD degrees.

Casper Syiem unveiled his latest artwork, Stories by the Fireside, at the beginning of the ceremony. This captivating mural blends tradition and storytelling through a unique visual narrative that chronicles the university’s rich cultural heritage.

Fr Stephen Mavely, former vice chancellor of Assam Don Bosco University was the convocation speaker. In his address he listed three significant reflections that all students should be mindful of: learn to dream, set goals as soon as you can, and to appreciate the journey that you will be making. He reminded the graduates that every time they encounter an obstacle, it is a test to see how firm their foundation is. The obstacles should teach them everything they needed to meet the end of their journey.

A citation was presented by the Chancellor to the convocation speaker Fr. Stephen Mavely. After the degrees and diplomas were awarded, a response on behalf of the graduates was presented by Semtikumla Lemtur, School of Allied Health Sciences, representing the undergraduates, and Kalep Kharmawphlang, Department of Sociology, representing the postgraduate students.

Distinguished Alumni Awards were awarded to six alumni: Lovitoli Awomi, Morealda Paswet, Parkordor Kharkongor, Iadalin Warbah, Lalonging M. Lyngdoh, and Rinyei Khamrang. Plaques of appreciation were presented to 19 university partners for their support.

The day concluded with Aurora Borealis, a musical event that featured the bands Kdormaju, Amalgam, In Flux, and Ras Johanan. The new Mel and Sue university ambassadors, Zishan Gautam, BSc Psychology, and Pamela Iohdahun Pyngrope, BA English were introduced to the audience.
