    Courtesy the Jeev Anskh Eco Products (P) Limited, the Lakadong Turmeric Powder produced in Jaintia Hills will now be exported to European Countries.

    Virtual flag off event was organised by Jeev Anksh Eco Products (P) Ltd, for export shipment of Lakadong Turmeric Powder & Ginger Powder from Meghalaya was flagged off by Mr. Sibhi Chakravarthy Sadhu (IAS), Secretary, Dept. of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt. of Meghalaya on Wednesday.

    Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sadhu, highlighted the advantage of spices from Meghalaya in the international market, and emphasis that the Govt. of Meghalaya will extend their support to promote more such export from the region, which will increase the income of the local farmers of the region.

    The welcome speech of the Flag Off was done by Mr. Gunajit Brahma, MD of Jeevanksh.com, the exporting company.

    Mr. Dharmendra Das, Asst. Director, Spices Board, Regional Office, Guwahati addressed the event and highlighted the potential of spices export to Europe, USA, and other markets. He specifically spoke on the spices that are grown in Meghalaya.

    Mrs. Sunita Rai, Asst. General Manager, APEDA regional office, Guwahati spoke on the potential of fresh produces, including Turmeric and Ginger for the export market, and how APEDA can help facilitate the process.

    Mr. Gunajit Brahma then shared his company’s journey since 2012, and how they are working with women SHGs of Meghalaya and helping them sell their products in the international market. The company is associated with over 10,000 smallholder farmers of the Northeast India.

    Local entrepreneurs like Mr. Remdor Lyngdoh of Farm Connect Development Society, Jowai and Mr. Wanbor Nongspung from Wan’s Spice, Shillong also spoke on the event.

    The importers from Netherlands Ms. Iona Mulder and UK Ms. Henna Shah are excited about the process and highlighted that demand for Lakadong Turmeric and Ginger from Meghalaya is very high, and good quality spices also fetches a higher price.

    The vote of thanks was extended by Mr. Demanson Lyngdoh, Project Officer, Mission Lakadong, Govt. of Meghalaya.
