Meghalaya’s Darilin Tang to showcase India’s diversity in Japan’s cultural exchange
The Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Student and Youth (JENESYS) 2023, organized by the Japan International Cooperation Centre (JICE), is set to take place from December 12th to December 19th, 2023. Launched in 2015, “JENESYS” fosters people-to-people exchanges between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.
This year, youth representatives from six nations including India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan will participate in the program, hosted in Tokyo and other local areas of Japan.
A moment of pride comes as the Department of Youth Affairs, Government of India, recommended the name of Darilin Tang, a Research Scholar from the Department of Management at NEHU, Tura Campus. Hailing from Iooksi Village in Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, she stands as the sole delegate from the North East among the eight representing India.
The primary objectives of this exchange program include promoting mutual trust and understanding between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region, facilitating insights into Japan’s economy, society, history, diverse culture, politics, and diplomatic relations, and building networks in these domains. Participants are also tasked with conveying program learnings and the allure of Japan to the regional public through Social Networking Services and other channels.
