Meghalaya Urban Affairs minister tests positive for COVID-19

Another cabinet minister of the MDA government has tested positive for COVID-19.

Urban Affairs Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar was tested positive for COVID, two days ago, according to Director Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War.

Dr War told reporters on Thursday that the department has taken note of all people who had come in contact with the minister.

“Contact tracing are being conducted to categorise as to who are high risk and low risk contacts of the minister,” he said.

Asked, Dr War said it is difficult to conclude as from where the minister had contracted the viral infection as it has spread all over the state.

Earlier, two ministers – Alexander Laloo Hek and James K Sangma had also tested positive for COVID-19. While Sangma had recovered from the viral infection Hek on the other hand is still undergoing isolation.

Dr War said so far all the ministers, who had tested positive, were asymptomatic. He said on completion of the quarantine period, retest will again be conducted.
