The Meghalaya State Commission for Women has taken cognizance of the case wherein a woman was allegedly stabbed by her husband.

In a press statement issued here, the Commission stated, “Though the woman has not filed a complaint with the Commission in relation to this case, the Commission has asked for the Police Report from the concerned police station and is awaiting for the report before taking other course of interventions.”

The Commission further stated, “At this point, we strongly feel that the Rule of Law must prevail. The law applies to all irrespective of their social status.”
