Meghalaya records two COVID-19 deaths, 70 new cases
The state on Monday recorded two new COVID-19 related deaths, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,487.
Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said one each was reported from East Khasi Hills district and West Khasi Hills.
The state also witnessed a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases after 70 persons have been tested positive for the virus taking the total active cases to 448.
Dr War said 62 cases were detected from East Khasi Hills district, 4 Ri Bhoi, 2 West Garo Hills, 1 South West Khasi Hills and 1 West Khasi Hills.
Dr War also informed that 14 persons have recovered from the viral infection of which 11 are from East Khasi Hills, 2 West Garo Hills and 1 Ri Bhoi.
So far, the state has detected a total of 85,304 COVID-19 cases out of which 448 are active cases, 83,369 recovered and 1,487 deaths.
East Khasi Hills has the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 371 followed by West Garo Hills 45, Ri Bhoi 15, West Jaintia Hills 7, South West Khasi Hills 4, East Jaintia Hills 3 and 1 each from North Garo Hills, West Khasi Hills and East Garo Hills.
