Meghalaya records 577 new COVID cases, 6 deaths
The state on Thursday recorded six COVID-19 related deaths pushing the death toll to 844.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, two each were reported from West Jaintia Hills district and West Garo Hills district while one each from East Khasi Hills district and South West Khasi Hills district respectively.
He said the state also detected 577 new cases. These include 260 Ri Bhoi, 157 in East Khasi Hills, 34 West Garo Hills, 27 West Khasi Hills, 24 East Jaintia Hills, 21 West Jaintia Hills, 16 North Garo Hills, 14 South West Khasi Hills, 12 East Garo Hills and 6 South Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 250 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 71 are from Ri Bhoi, 70 East Khasi Hills, 45 West Jaintia Hills, 16 West Garo Hills, 12 East Garo Hills, 11 North Garo Hills, 8 South West Garo Hills, 7 West Khasi Hills, 3 South Garo Hills and 1 East Jaintia Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 50,090 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,537 are active cases, 44,709 recovered and 844 deaths.
With 1,442 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 774 cases and West Jaintia Hills with 590 cases.
There are 537 cases in West Garo Hills, 260 North Garo Hills, 246 East Garo Hills, 180 South West Khasi Hills, 177 West Khasi Hills, 138 East Jaintia Hills, 108 South West Garo Hills and 85 South Garo Hills.
