Meghalaya records 514 new COVID cases, 5 deaths
The state on Saturday recorded five deaths due to COVID-19 pushing the death toll to 776.
According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 2 deaths were reported from East Khasi Hills district and one each from South West Garo Hills district, West Garo Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.
The state has also recorded 514 new COVID-19 cases and with this, the total number of active cases stands at 4,743.
Dr War said the new cases include 163 in East Khasi Hills, 115 West Jaintia Hills, 63 West Garo Hills, 57 Ri Bhoi, 32 East Garo Hills, 22 South Garo Hills, 19 South West Garo Hills, 15 North Garo Hills 12 South West Khasi Hills, 8 East Jaintia Hills and 8 West Khasi Hills.
He also informed that 585 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.
Of these, 240 are from East Khasi Hills, 75 West Garo Hills, 74 West Jaintia Hills, 37 South West Garo Hills, 32 North Garo Hills, 28 Ri Bhoi, 28 East Garo Hills, 24 West Khasi Hills, 23 South West Khasi Hills, 15 South Garo Hills and 9 East Jaintia Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 44,896 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,743 are active cases, 39,377 recovered and 776 deaths.
With 1,595 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 739 cases and 586 West Jaintia Hills.
There are 440 cases in Ri Bhoi, 310 South West Khasi Hills, 230 North Garo Hills, 238 East Garo Hills, 213 South West Garo Hills, 167 South Garo Hills, 147 West Khasi Hills and 78 East Jaintia Hills.
