Meghalaya records 514 new COVID-19 cases, 10 deaths
Ten more persons have succumbed to COVID-19 on Friday taking the death toll in the state to 714.
According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 7 deaths were reported in East Khasi Hills district and 1 each in Ri Bhoi district, West Garo Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.
The state has also recorded 514 new COVID-19 cases and with this, the total number of active cases stands at 4,993.
Dr War said the new cases include 183 in East Khasi Hills, 90 West Garo Hills, 71 West Jaintia Hills, 43 South West Khasi Hills, 35 North Garo Hills, 29 East Garo Hills, 27 West Khasi Hills, 15 South West Garo Hills, 9 East Jaintia Hills, 6 Ri Bhoi and 6 South Garo Hills.
He also informed that as many as 526 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.
Of these, 189 are from East Khasi Hills, 7 East Garo Hills, 32 East Jaintia Hills, 16 North Garo Hills, 10 Ri Bhoi, 5 South Garo Hills, 71 South West Garo Hills, 5 South West Khasi Hills, 70 West Garo Hills, 102 West Jaintia Hills and 19 West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 41,100 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,849 are active cases, 35,393 recovered and 714 deaths.
With 1,877 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 741 cases and 644 West Jaintia Hills.
There are 350 cases in Ri Bhoi, 259 South West Garo Hills, 279 South West Khasi Hills, 228 North Garo Hills, 143 East Jaintia Hills, 181 West Khasi Hills, 173 East Garo Hills and118 South Garo Hills.
