    The state on Tuesday recorded nine COVID-19 related deaths pushing the death toll to 880.

    According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 5 were reported from East Khasi Hills district, 2 from Ri Bhoi district and 1 each from West Jaintia Hills district and West Khasi Hills district.

    He said the state also detected 457 new cases. These include 154 in Ri Bhoi, 99 East Khasi Hills, 69 West Garo Hills, 45 West Jaintia Hills, 22 North Garo Hills, 14 West Khasi Hills, 14 South West Khasi Hills, 12 South West Garo Hills, 10 South Garo Hills, 10 East Jaintia Hills and 8 East Garo Hills. 

    Dr War also informed that 497 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

    Of these, 143 are from East Khasi Hills, 69 Ri Bhoi, 66 West Garo Hills, 84 West Jaintia Hills, 21 East Garo Hills, 3 South West Khasi Hills, 10 South Garo Hills, 14 West Khasi Hills, 12 East Jaintia Hills, 60 North Garo Hills and 15 South West Garo Hills.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 52,358 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,305 are active cases, 47,173 recovered and 880 deaths.

    With 1,439 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 901 cases and West Jaintia Hills with 537 cases.

    There are 469 cases in West Garo Hills, 223 North Garo Hills, 194 West Khasi Hills, 146 East Garo Hills, 133 South West Khasi Hills, 95 East Jaintia Hills, 90 South Garo Hills and 78 South West Garo Hills.
