Meghalaya records 2 COVID-19 deaths, 159 new cases
The state on Tuesday recorded two more new COVID-19 related deaths, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,489.
Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the two cases were reported from East Khasi Hills district.
The state has continued to witness a surge in the COVID-19 cases after 159 persons have tested positive for the virus taking the total active cases to 578.
Dr War said 131 cases were detected from East Khasi Hills district, 14 from West Garo Hills, 4 West Jaintia Hills, 3 West Khasi Hills and 1 East Jaintia Hills.
Dr War also informed that 27 persons have recovered from the viral infection of which 25 are from East Khasi Hills and 1 each from West Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 85,463 COVID-19 cases out of which 578 are active cases, 83,396 recovered and 1,489 deaths.
East Khasi Hills has the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 475 followed by West Garo Hills 58, Ri Bhoi 21, West Jaintia Hills 10, South West Khasi Hills 4, East Jaintia Hills 4, West Khasi Hills 4 and 1 each from North Garo Hills, and East Garo Hills.
